MAPS
As you view the following maps please remember:
  • These maps belong to a set of 'beginning maps' prepared by a team of Multicultural Health Brokers, with support from M.A.P.S. Alberta Capital Region, during Summer, 2009.
  • The identified population concentrations are based on Multicultural Health Brokers experience of working with refugee and immigrant families within these communities.
  • These maps are NOT meant to present a comprehensive picture of refugee and immigrant families within the 12 "focal" communities.
  • Rather, the intent of these maps is to encourage more concerted efforts among practitioners and policy-makers within this region to raise awareness of and deepen knowledge about the families within these communities.
  • Information about the 12 refugee communities featured are too small to have been captured through regular census processes. Yet, these are communities made up of families that have complex risks factors and are highly vulnerable.

With the exception of the City of Edmonton Neighbourhoods map, all of the following maps are based on the Multicultural Health Brokers caseloads:
  • All Immigrant & Refugee Populations
  • Afghan Refugee Population
  • Arabic Speaking Immigrant & Refugee Population
  • City of Edmonton Neighbourhoods
  • Chinese Immigrant Population
  • Ethiopian & Eritrean Refugee Population
  • Filipino Immigrant Population
  • Kurdish Refugee Population
  • Korean Immigrant Population
  • Latin American Immigrant & Refugee Population
  • Somali Refugee Population
  • South Asian Immigrant Population
  • Sudanese Refugee Population
  • Vietnamese Immigrant Population
